We out here!

Week of June 14 - 20

Hey hey!

This Monday we got to go to DC! It was awesome because things are starting to open back up. We got tickets for the National Gallery of Art and we got to see some really cool famous pieces. We also had an awesome experience with a security guard there named Michael. He came up to me and told me to put my water bottle in a bag, but then we all just ended up talking for like 20 minutes. He said that we had a light and he had to see what it was. Something that was really special about that moment was that recently almost every person we've talked to has said the same thing about the light we emulate. I remember hearing that a lot growing up, but every time I hear it, I am reminded that it's the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As representatives of Christ, we bring this light to those that so desperately need it and people can't help but be attracted to it. I count my blessings everyday that I get to share the light.

This week was Sister Farmer's birthday and lucky for us, her mom absolutely loves birthdays. Now we have an ice cream cake taking up half of our freezer that will probably last us a good 2 months. We also had interviews that day and I hate to admit it, but it was my last one before my big final interview

We got to do exchanges with the Hermanas and I got to spend the day with my trainee! We had back to back lessons all day and there were many proud mom moments.

We got the low-key go ahead to talk to pretty much everyone! So that means we can tract on our way to other appointments and even knock a couple doors. I kinda thought I'd go my whole mission without doing this, but here we are! It's cool to be near the end, but still having new learning curves reminding me that there is always more to learn. We have had some pretty good experiences with tracting and being out in public, but we've also had some big miracles with online work. It's incredible to see the work progressing so much on so many different levels. I just love what I do!!

Have a great week!

A God of Miracles

Week of June 7th

Hey hey!! Just another week of miracles and good times :)

There's a lot of good times, but I'll be candid and admit that there's some not good times as well. Like when ants with WINGS start infiltrating your apartment and all you have is oven cleaner, bleach and multi purpose spray because you're a Missionary. The oven cleaner and bleach did some damage, but we finally got a pro sent in to get the job done. We are finally pest free!!!! Except for the two I live with. JOKES. JOKES I'm kidding I promise!!

Anyway, we had a super cool miracle visit this week. We went to visit a sister in the ward who moved here with her husband during quarantine. The apartment building was locked but miracle #1 we were able to follow someone in. Miracle #2 the sister was on a business trip but her husband who's not a member was!! We totally hit it off and he is so cool. He's a crafting genius so he told us to let them know if we ever want to make some really cool crafts. Miracle #3 We accidently turned down a one way road because there were absolutely no signs, but we didn't die.

This weekend we were so incredibly blessed to hear from some very important leaders of our church. We had a zoom devotional with just our mission and President Ballard and Elder Christofferson!! I learned a ton but I have to say one of the coolest parts was when President Ballard talked about how much he loves talking to the missionaries and will never pass up an opportunity to do so, even with all of his other responsibilities.

Go make this week great!!!

Greenie for the day

Yesterday I got to do something that I began to think I'd never be able to do on my mission! We got to have our first member meal!! So crazy and exciting, right?! Only took 13 months but better late than never :)

On Saturday we had a last minute mission meeting where they announced new Covid rules such as not having to wear masks at our mission events and at peoples' houses, if they are okay with it. I was pretty sure the Second Coming would happen before Maryland/DC would lift their mask mandate but hey, here we are!!  It's been a longggg ride so it's good to start to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Earlier this week we had transfers so a new group of missionaries came in. They spend their first night at a hotel then go to their areas the next day, but there was an odd amount of sisters so they asked me to stay the night with them! I got hit with that nostalgia as I thought back to my first day in the mission and remembered my first 2 thoughts: 1. WOW it is sooooo greeen 2. It is HOT. Is it always this sticky? They were all saying the same thing so I know I'm not crazy for thinking that. I got to be temporary comps with Sister Winder from..... you're never gonna guess....... Utah!! She is super cute and did cheer growing up too so it was fun to bond about flips and how cheer completely wrecks your body. Also sleeping in a hotel bed = best sleep I've had since I can remember.

One night we went over to Allyson's house and made Navajo fry bread with her and her husband!! Allyson is our cute recent convert and her husband, Frank is not a member, but is starting to really like the missionaries. They are so amazing and of course sent us home with enough food to last us for the week.

We also talked with a really cool new friend named Richard! He's a truck driver so we'll be talking then all the sudden he'll lay on the horn and yell at someone then be like "sorry, what were you saying?" He's so funny.

Happy Memorial Day!!! Big shoutout to those that have fought to keep us safe. Today we got to go to the boy, Mikes family's cookout and it was an experience to say the least. I love what I do. Who gets to do this?? I do!! 😊

Love, Hermana Dangl
