The gift of thumbs

Because Spanish isn't enough, I am learning ASL!! At this moment, my vocabulary is super limited, but at least I can tell a deaf person that I am thankful for bread, my family and a turkey 👌

And on that note, happy almost Thanksgiving!!! Due to our restrictions, this Thanksgiving is gonna be a whole lot smaller BUT, Hermana Hacking and I will be throwing our own Thanksgiving Feast Rager and it's gonna be amazing:)

This week we were able to do a ton of service!! At one place, we were able to pick out some stuff and I found a pickleball net and paddles so we are STOKED.

We also had Zone Conference and we got to see the temple and all the lights on the grounds!!

This week we got to meet Nora in person and she is so cool! We talked about the Plan of Salvation and she absolutely loved it. She is a super hard worker and is so dedicated to learning English to help provide for her family. <3

We also had a super cool mission FB Live event called “Why I Believe.” Every month, we have a speaker come and share their conversion story and why they believe.  We heard from this cute older couple who were both missionaries for the Methodist church, but after a super crazy train of events and undeniable spiritual experiences, they ended up getting baptized.  God is so involved in the details of our lives.

And finally, I am taking on the challenge to learn how to juggle! I shamefully failed to achieve my goal to learn a couple months ago, but I'm gonna get it this time!!

That's it for this week! Love you all!

Ciao, Hermana Dangl

Service!

I LOVE THE TEMPLE!!!

Our district leader is a meme so we made him as a rice krispie,
but then it started to get old, so naturally we had a funeral.

Happy Sunday!

Just your favorite companions
celebrating Halloween a month late.

We love cute Ally (our Mission President's daughter)!!!

Freedom Pupusas

Hey y'all!! WHAT A WEEK. Election week has passed and we are all safe and chilling... for now!

The lockdown wasn't too bad but our neighbors probably hate us because we had an indoor soccer match, but then I serenaded them with my ukulele so we are good now. The second we got an email saying we were free to leave, we raced outside and got pupusas to celebrate our freedom. Also, the weather was amazing this week so we spent a good amount of time on our balcony rating the dogs that walked by and getting tan before I won't see the sun for the next 5 months.

The good stuff...

-We taught a new girl named Mariluz and she is so cute I love her.  Also Nora too. I'm just glad we finally have some girls we are teaching :)

-We also taught the doctrine portion of our District Council and killed it yet again.

-I scheduled in 5 hours of crying because we had a new missionary training and our district leader was seriously concerned for our emotional health when he saw our schedule. We explained and I can promise you that we are both thriving and our mental states are more than fine.

-Church and a beautiful Sunday drive.

-Met a cute, old veteran at the WWII Memorial and he told us some of his stories.

-We started to have an ant problem so we killed them with oven cleaner, multi purpose spray and bleach. Imma bug killa queen.

Today we went to Target and I got some nail polish but it slipped out of my hands and it ~shattered~ and spilled everywhere. So this lady got her walkie talkie out and said "clean up on aisle 11" like they do in the movies. The homie Robert came to clean it up. Apparently I lowkey ruined their floor soooo :// I didn't even get more nail polish though because I was scared I'd drop it again so I just took the big L.

Last but not least I heard that the BYU football team is actually kinda doing alright!! Who knew???

Anyway, go Cougs

Back into lockdown . . . .

So yeah, we are back in lockdown but for the first time, it's not because of Corona. We are completely locked down for the next 2 days until stuff cools down with the election because apparently some crazy stuff might happen and they want to keep the missionaries as safe as possible.... But in other news, this past week was SO GOOD. Also I got to vote for the first time so wooooo!

First off, being a new mother is amazing. 10/10 would recommend. Hermana Hacking is from Utah (ikr what a surprise!!), she was reassigned from the Dominican Republic, and she hasn't even hit her month mark of being a missionary. She is cooler than I'll ever be and was in the MTC program for native speakers because she pretty much knows Spanish already. We are the dream team and have some big plans for this next transfer.

This week we got to make a second trip out to Potomac to go to the mission office to get a mission phone for my companion. We were driving home through Rockville <3 and I pointed out the only Crumbl in our mission so we decided to run by on our way home. We were ordering and a guy behind us offered to buy us a box of cookies! I thought stuff like that only happened in Utah but I guess not! We ended up talking to Shane and his friend after who are members up in the Baltimore area. Such a tender mercy!!!

Our Halloween consisted of us being on that missionary grind but we wanted to get some good content for the folks back home and make Halloween really scary so we dressed up as Elders. If you want to see some good looking Elders, just check the pics at the bottom and I can guarantee you won't be disappointed.

We also talked to this really cool girl named Nora this week!! She moved her super recently from Honduras and wants to learn English but is also looking for a church to attend. We love Nora, she is hilarious.

Some more highlights include: hot tamales from Hermana Otilia, my favorite view of the temple from the Beltway with all the pretty fall trees, testimony meeting at church on Sunday, and we gave cookies and goodies to my favorite family with the cutest kids on Halloween.

Well life is crazy, but life is SO good. I am grateful for change and for growth and for the opportunity I have to be a missionary and serve the people here.

Con amor, Hermana Dangl

My child!!

My temple just showing off like always.

Me being a good citizen.

Us being straight up ICONS on Halloween.

Always a good time in Naptown (I'm a local so I can call it that).

Money moves only

Surprise!!! I'm gonna be a MOM!!! Yeah don't worry, your thoughts are the same as mine. What is my mission president thinking??? But for real, I am so, so, so excited to train and for this new adventure. It's gonna be a gooood time! But rip to Hermana Hunsaker because she got demoted to English :/

In other news, we are teaching this new guy named Dennyis who called us up one day saying that he wanted to learn more about the Book of Mormon and Bible.  He is super cool and really has a desire to learn.

One night we were teaching a cute older lady in our ward and she was yawning a bit but as my companion was explaining something  . . . . all we could hear is really heavy, steady breathing on the other end.  After a second, we realized SHE FELL ASLEEP. So we low key hung up but then she called us back a minute later when she woke up and apologized a million times. She is so funny I love her. Now I tell my companion her teaching makes people fall asleep; it's good for the comp unity.

We did service at a new place where we sorted things into boxes for families in need. The main girl Michelle was SO COOL and she said she wants to be a missionary too and do what we are doing. She's right. Missionaries are pretty cool. Then she sent us home with a box of random stuff including a brush, drink coasters, a manual juicer, and conditioner. Interesting combo but I'm not complaining.

We had a super good last district council!  I might be biased though because Hermana Hunsaker and I taught it and talked about the Restoration which is always a crowd favorite.

Also starting next Sunday we are going to be able to go to church every week! What a huge blessing!! We were able to have our last branch Zoom Devotional Meeting and it is always super small, but there was such a strong spirit.

Love ya’ll!
